The area boasts hundreds of city parks, three beautiful state parks, a large off-leash dog park, and four county parks within just 20 minutes of Cedar Rapids city limits. For trail lovers, the Cedar Rapids - Iowa City Corridor offers miles upon miles of interconnected trails - offering both urban and rural scenery.

Are you a golfer? The Cedar Rapids area has more than 20 pristine public golf courses and three country clubs, which are also open to the public. And, within just 45-minutes of Cedar Rapids, golfers have their choice of more than 40 breathtaking, challenging golf courses.

The Cedar Rapids area is home to hundreds of year-round recreational leagues, programs, and classes for both youth and adults. From belly dancing to water aerobics, the Cedar Rapids Recreation Department offers a wide variety of opportunities in art, athletics, cooking, dance, and technical skills! In addition to offering classes, the Cedar Rapids area is also home to outstanding recreational facilities including a competitive and recreational ice arena, multiple new aquatic centers, and water parks.

In recognition of Cedar Rapids' outstanding commitment to parks and recreation, the city's recreation department received the prestigious recognition as Iowa's "Sportstown" by Sports Illustrated and the National Recreation and Parks Association - an honor given to just one city in each of the 50 states.
