St. Joseph's Day Parade Celebration
03/24/2012, 1:00pm
New Bohemia to Czech Village
905 Third Street SE
Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
Wear your red and be Czech for the day and celebrate St. Joseph's Day! This year has a NEW ROUTE that begins at Bottleworks in New Bohemia and down Third Street and will end in Czech Village.
St. Joseph’s Day Celebrates Joseph the Betrothed- Joseph was a descendant from the house of David. He was a carpenter. He was the earthly spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the foster father of Jesus Christ. He received visions from angels and is noted for his willingness to immediately get up and do what God told him. Little is known of him from the scriptures; but, it is assumed he died prior to the Passion from natural causes. St. Joseph's Day is traditionally celebrated on March 19 (and celebrated like a Czech St. Patrick's Day), however this year the parade is held on Saturday the 24th.
