Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau receives SportsEvents Readers' Choice Award
The Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has been named to SportsEvents Magazine's Annual Readers' Choice Awards, which recognizes outstanding destinations and venues for hosting sporting events. In addition, the awards also recognize industry professionals from across the country who have exhibited a high level of professionalism, creativity and excellence in hosting sports events. The special feature will be included in the January 2010 issue of SportsEvents Magazine.
Indian Creek Nature Center Earns National Certification as Nature Explore Classroom
Indian Creek Nature Center, a nature preserve located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, announced that its outdoor classroom earned the national designation of a certified Nature Explore Classroom from the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation. The name of its certified Nature Explore classroom is Sense of Wonder Outdoor Classroom. It is the third certified Nature Explore Classroom in Iowa and one of 33 that have been certified in the United States.
January 24, 2010 to be proclaimed Arts and Culture Day in the Corridor
The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance (ICCA) is pleased to announce that Sunday, January 24, 2010 is being proclaimed "Arts and Culture Day in the Corridor." Mayors in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City are proclaiming "Arts and Culture Day" in conjunction with the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance Excellence in Innovation Awards (aka The Icky's!).
Four chosen for Cedar Rapids Baseball 2010 Hall of Fame
Four individuals have been selected for induction into the Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame at the 14th Annual Hot Stove Banquet on January 28, 2010. They are Howie Kendrick, Robert 'Bob' Klinger, Denis Menke, and Tony Reagins.
ICCA Announces Advocacy Award Winners
The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance (ICCA) announced the recipients for two lifetime achievement awards in arts and culture advocacy. The Larry Eckholt Award will be given to Dan Brown from the Iowa City Press-Citizen, and the North Corridor Advocate Award will be given posthumously to Eliot Keller from KZIA-FM Z102.9 and KGYM-AM 1600ESPN.
