Come Celebrate 30 Years with the CRACVB!
The Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) invites the community to join us for our 30 Year Anniversary Celebration Friday, November 13th! The event will be held at 3rd Street Live in the heart of the New Bohemia district and will feature performances by SPT Theatre Company. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a festive, energetic and innovative evening of music!
City of Cedar Rapids Receives APA Planning Award
In November the City of Cedar Rapids received the "2009 Planning Achievement Award for a Hard Won Victory" from the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association for the River Corridor Redevelopment Plan and Neighborhood Planning Process. This new APA award honors communities that engage the public in successful planning initiatives in the face of adverse circumstances.
Expert Research Panel Concludes Cedar Rapids Downtown Development Plans Are On Target
The Urban Land Institute (ULI), a land use and development research firm with credentials in post-natural and man-made disaster communities, has released a report from their June 2009 visit to Cedar Rapids, citing several downtown development strategies for reinventing a portion of downtown Cedar Rapids for economic growth and improved quality of life.
NCSML Board Announces Plans to Move & Elevate Building
The Board of Directors of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library announced today that it is pursuing a plan to move and then elevate its flood-damaged museum building. The museum building will become part of a new and expanded facility. The 15-year-old structure is an architectural icon in Cedar Rapids and the museum's red roof rising above the 2008 floodwaters depicted the Cedar Rapids disaster around the world.

The Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) today unveiled a major new branding initiative at its annual meeting. The new logo visually represents the brand promise: "The CRACVB is where the experience starts for visitors, residents and organizations."
