- CRACVB Strongly Supports the Cedar Rapids Events Center Project
- The Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) strongly supports the Cedar Rapids Events Center project. The project includes the renovation of the existing U.S. Cellular Center, as well an expansion that will add approximately 60,000 square feet of exhibit space to the U.S. Cellular Center's 30,000 square feet, as well as 12,000 square feet of conference and meeting room space. The improvement project would also include upgrades to the loading dock areas and the adjacent skywalks, all of which is needed to make the facility more functional and more accessible.
- Governor Culver signs Great Places agreements with Marion, Iowa City area
- Iowa Governor Chet Culver signed agreements on Wednesday, February 17, with Iowa's six new Great Places, including Marion and the Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty area. Iowa Great Places is an initiative of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs that combines state resources and local assets to help communities cultivate the unique qualities that make them special.
- Linn County Historic Preservation Grant Applications Now Available
- Applications for the annual Historic Preservation Grant Program from the Linn County Historic Preservation Commission are now available on the Linn County website at www.linncounty.org. Grant funds must be used to preserve historic structures or artifacts; maintain a historical library or collection; conduct historical studies or research; issue publications; provide public lectures of historical interest; or otherwise disseminate knowledge of the history of the area to the general public.
- Historic Iowa Theater is back - better than ever
- Like many parts of Cedar Rapids, the Iowa Theater Building is back...and better than ever. The Iowa Theater will re-open Friday, February 26, with the stage production of the musical comedy "The Producers."
