- National Trust for Historic Preservation Profiles Grant Wood Window
- The restoration of a local Grant Wood designed stained-glass window was profiled in the March/April 2010 issue of Preservation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation magazine. In the June 2008 flood, the 20-by-24 foot window valued at $3 million and located in the Veterans Memorial Building was cracked in over 100 places. The 1927 window was transported to Davenport, Iowa, for a $150,000 restoration project.
- Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Announces New President
- The Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) Board of Directors today announced that Marilee Fowler has been selected as the organization's new president. Fowler comes to the CRACVB with 23 years of destination marketing leadership experience.
- Sweet Adelines International Annual Convention will be held in Cedar Rapids April 22-24, 2010
- Mid-America Region #22 of Sweet Adelines International will hold its annual convention and competition at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Hotel, 1200 Collins Road NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 22-24, 2010. Quartet competition will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 immediately following the Grand Opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. Fifteen quartets will be competing. Chorus competition will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. Thirteen choruses will compete. Tickets may be purchased beginning one hour before the start of each competition at the ticket window for $15 per event.
- 2010 Fireball Run Adventurally Announces Cedar Rapids, Iowa as an "Official Host City"
- The invitational Fireball Run Adventurally is announcing Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a destination for its 2010 event. Competitors will take part in challenges that embrace the city's culture and diversity. The rally will arrive from a destination being kept secret from competitors on Friday, October 1st and will hold a public green flag ceremony on Saturday, October 2nd as Mayor Corbett signals the race's departure to its finish line in Wisconsin.
