Freedom Festival fireworks to be launched from May's Island plaza area
Freedom Festival's return to its traditional Downtown Cedar Rapids venue on July 4th will include a new location for the festival's fireworks launch. This year's Celebration of Freedom fireworks, sponsored by Rockwell Collins, will be launched from the grassy plaza area on May's Island between the Veteran's Memorial Building and the Linn County Courthouse.

The Gallup-Healthways Basic Access Index has ranked Cedar Rapids fourth out of 187 U.S. metro areas for providing basic necessities for a better quality of life. Cedar Rapids received an 87.3 index score, just two points from the top ranked metro area.
