City Facilities, Parks & Recreation Open House June 23
The City of Cedar Rapids invites all Cedar Rapids residents to join the Community Facilities and Parks & Recreation public participation processes. The City is combining these two public participation processes to make the events more convenient for residents.
The first open house is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ballroom, 350 First Avenue NE. The first open house will provide information on the needs, the process, and work to date in both areas.
“The City needs to make some critical decisions about how and where we provide services, and how to ensure we provide the highest quality of life for current and future residents, within our budget constraints,” said City Council Member Tom Podzimek. “It is critical that all Cedar Rapids residents attend these open houses and provide feedback.”
The second open house on Tuesday, August 18 will provide information on facility and programming options, and the final open house on Tuesday, October 6 will provide information on preferred options. Locations for these open houses will be announced at a later date.
“We need to know what is most important to the residents of Cedar Rapids, whether it’s convenience, cost, usage, efficiency, sustainability or other ideas that we haven’t considered yet,” said City Manager Jim Prosser. “Their feedback is important to the City Council as they make decisions for buildings and facilities designed to last for the next 50 to 100 years.”
The public participation process involves residents early and effectively in decisions impacting the community. Public feedback ensures that the final plan reflects the identified needs and interests of the entire Cedar Rapids community.
