Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Announces Resignation of President Tim Boyle
The Cedar Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) today announced that Tim Boyle, president and CEO, will be resigning from his position effective December 31, 2009, to pursue other interests.
Mr. Boyle has been with the CRACVB since September 2005. Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Boyle was a morning radio host for 21 years, primarily on WMT AM-FM.
Mr. Boyle reflected back on his experience at the CRACVB, noting: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as president of the bureau. I am proud of our accomplishments and the progress we have made. We have an outstanding group of employees and partner organizations that will position the bureau for great things in the future as well.”
Josh Moore, Board Chair of the CRACVB, reiterated that the decision was Mr. Boyle’s and stated that the board of directors wishes to thank Mr. Boyle for his leadership and his service to the community.
“Tim did a great job of promoting Cedar Rapids. Tim has made the CRACVB viable and visible,” said Mr. Moore. “While his energy and enthusiasm will be missed, we know he is moving on to other opportunities. We thank Tim for his leadership and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
The CRACVB will conduct a recruitment search right away, with the selection of a new president anticipated by the end of the calendar year.
“This position plays an important and visible role in our community and across the State. We have many great assets that we need to market to visitors and our own residents,” said Mr. Moore. “We will conduct a comprehensive search to find the very best person available to fill this position.”
The CRACVB is preparing to observe its 30th anniversary by unveiling a new brand and logo at its annual meeting November 12. The bureau was formed in 1979 after a local vote was passed to create a hotel/motel tax in November 1978.
Mr. Moore commented: “Change is an opportunity to continue growing the organization. We have many exciting things on the horizon, with the potential of a new events center, a new brand and logo identity. We will continue to be a leading organization and advocate for the community.”
