Sweet Adelines International Annual Convention will be held in Cedar Rapids April 22-24, 2010
Mid-America Region #22 of Sweet Adelines International will hold its annual convention and competition at the Cedar Rapids Marriott Hotel, 1200 Collins Road NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa April 22-24, 2010.
Quartet competition will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 immediately following the Grand Opening ceremonies at 6:30 PM. Fifteen quartets will be competing. Chorus competition will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12:00 noon. Thirteen choruses will compete. Tickets may be purchased beginning one hour before the start of each competition at the ticket window for $15 per event.
The quartet and chorus which receives first place qualifies for the next International competition. The quartet winners from this year’s regional competition will compete in Seattle, Washington this October, while the chorus winners will compete at the 2011 International competition in Houston, Texas.
There will be a Mass Sing in the atrium of the Cedar Rapids Marriott from 8:00-9:00 on Saturday evening. Approximately 500 women of all ages will participate in the Mass Sing in the atrium and throughout the atrium balconies on all floors. This event is free and open to the public.
The new Regional Management Team will be installed during a dinner and ceremony on Thursday evening, April 22, 2010 at 6:30 PM. The new Team includes:

Region #22 covers all chorus chapters in the state of Wisconsin, northeastern Iowa, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and northeastern Illinois. Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of four-part a cappella harmony through education and performance. Each of the world’s 35 regions hold a regional convention and competition annually. Four International judges will score each competitor in four categories: Music, Sound, Showmanship and Expression. Each competitor is required to perform a ballad and an up tune.
